The blog has moved...

You've reached my old blog... In order to simplify my blog, my portfolio and my life, I combined my blog and site into one. Now you can find my "blog" entries on my Recent Work page. You can also view my portfolio, link to slideshows and client information, and locate anything else you might need all in one place.

This blog contains old session blog posts, and my failed 2011 attempt at "One Image a Day" project in which I force myself to shoot something each day, personal or professional, as a challenge to myself. I'd love to hear what you think of the images as they might slightly stray from the norm. We'll see if I can pick it up for 2012!

When I started this blog post, I thought about calling it “Perfection” or “It’s a Small World” or “I love my clients” but then I realized that I’d actually used those titles before.  Really, how lucky am I that I get to meet families that are so amazing, so gracious, so nice and so beautiful?  Not only that, but it’s become almost humorous that I have the 6 Degrees thing going on as much as I do.  Caroline, a total stranger to me, found me on Google.  Then we confirmed that we’d both be at the beach at the same time (a beach near neither of our homes).  We then realized her family was staying 6 house down from the Surf Club.  Finally, it turns out Caroline & Sean went to high school with this chick (one of our BFFs).  So when I walked down the beach to meet her, I had to give her a hug (and of course you can imagine my elation when I saw the LP dresses… a girl after my own heart).

Caroline’s family was equally awesome (gorgeous sister Brooke, really nice parents, husbands, children and on and on).  You know how I love big families, seeing the resemblances (clearly all beautiful), watching the interactions.  Cousins together are so cute and make me really happy because my sister and I live far apart as well and so it’s just such a treat to have our kiddos playing together.

We made our way down the beach and I have to tell you, the lighting was phenomenal.  It just gets better and better on that beach… from about 6PM to 15 minutes or so after the sun sets.  Someone told me it’s equivalent to the light in Provence and I believe it.

I had a wonderful time and I am so glad our worlds collided!

[On a totally unrelated note, I was considering posting smaller sneak peaks... apparently word on the street is that it's more exciting to see your slideshow if the sneak peaks are smaller.  For me, I love a big sneak peak because it buys me some time if I am running late on a gallery.  I also feel like it's "me" -- I talk a lot, I obsess a lot (in a good way) and so I blog a lot!  I'd love to hear from past, present and future clients about whether you like to see a lot of images up front, or just like a select few to hold you over until you see them all in your slideshow!  So leave me some comments!]

I am forcing myself to not work tonight and to just be lazy.  But since that’s sort of tough for me to do, I decided to look through some personal images from earlier this summer.  I happened to download these on my laptop, before it broke, earlier this summer.  Luckily, these files were recovered.  I lost a lot more on my other harddrive, and that makes me so incredibly sad.  Anyway, I decided to attempt to proof just a few, the rest will have to wait until that day in the future, hopefully not too far away (January) when I have down time to do something with all of my family photographs.

So here are some, in no particular order.  Processed all over the board.  More to come later.

Now don’t be thinking I’ll be doing this every day.  I just couldn’t think of a title.   Loving this shot of these two.  They play so well together, they just love each other.  Maybe I’ll get off my butt and print this for Jody and I.  Maybe not though.  Yeah, I will.  As a standout mount with linen texture.

So as you might know, from the number of complaints that I thrown out just about everywhere, I managed to break my IBM laptop (keyboard… can Diet Coke really do that?), my Mac (the hard drive, not my fault, it’s brand new for God’s sake), and my Blackberry (wine, Janey’s saliva, salty air).  Unfortunately it had a few day’s of our time in Quogue plus the Rockport images on it… TBD when I get to the Apple Store if those still exist.  No customer sessions, but has limited how much I can work on things, so I am very backed up.

I managed to salvage a few images of a card before I reformatted… I was pretty excited to see these, seeing as I really thought I captured a few good sibling shots on the dunes.  This is the best.  No, really, it is.  This isn’t an outtake, this is it.  Needless to say, we don’t have the holiday card photo yet by a long shot.  But I wanted to post this because so many clients often say to me “your kids are lovely and you capture such beautiful images of them, my kids never behave.”  Listen up.  Neither do mine.  The good thing is that I can almost always make yours behave for a split second, and I don’t even threaten time-outs to do it!

Anyway, here they are.  I love them to pieces and might actually frame this little number.  Oh, who am I kidding, I can’t get around to framing anything.  But at least I know it’s there.
