The blog has moved...

You've reached my old blog... In order to simplify my blog, my portfolio and my life, I combined my blog and site into one. Now you can find my "blog" entries on my Recent Work page. You can also view my portfolio, link to slideshows and client information, and locate anything else you might need all in one place.

This blog contains old session blog posts, and my failed 2011 attempt at "One Image a Day" project in which I force myself to shoot something each day, personal or professional, as a challenge to myself. I'd love to hear what you think of the images as they might slightly stray from the norm. We'll see if I can pick it up for 2012!

Needless to say, when I discovered this field behind my mother’s house, I was thrilled.  And I’d been secretly scouting yet another abandoned brick building.  So when Sarah said she was game to come to meet for a session, I jumped.  And I am SO glad I did.

That said, I think I could have put these two kiddos in front of a dumpster and had just as wonderful results.  They are seriously stunning children.  I haven’t met their dad, but I can say without hesitation, some of it must come from their mom.

Loved this entire session.

I was really excited to photograph Charlotte because her session was a gift from Milo and his awesome parents.  I love it when friends refer friends!  It’s an honor to me to not only be referred, but to be given as a gift.  Charlotte’s parents are really neat, and of course after just a few minutes of talking, we realized we had some mutual connections and probably crossed paths before in prior lives.  Since she was wide awake (yes, I continue to emit caffeine through my pores to keep babies awake), we went outside where there was really awesome light.  It was lovely.  I want to do more outside sessions!  Actually, I want to ditch the “beanbag” altogether for newborn sessions and just photograph them in their natural elements.

On another note, if you are looking for me, I am not around.  I have limited connectivity and am slow to answer emails and phone calls.  I will be back for a full office day on Monday, then slammed the entire week from the 11-15 as I have 3-4 sessions and a friend in from out of town.  I appreciate your patience as I recover from vacation and a busy week!  When I get back I have two awesome beach sessions to blog and some fun family vacation images!

[and now that is stuck in my head.  and if you don't know what I am singing, you are too young to be reading my blog].

But I am just way in the weeds, really trying to catch up and get everyone everything they need before the holiday.  It might come down to the wire, but I’ll do my best to make sure it happens!  I’d love to say next year I’ll stick to my rule “no sessions after Thanksgiving,” but I really liked the people I met and so this year I am happy I squeezed a few more in!  I’ll blog here and there as I catch up and hopefully show some new images that have been just been napping on my harddrive.

So I was super excited to meet Nicole because really, any friend of my cousin Laurie’s is a friend of mine.  I just always like the people she sends my way!  Anyway, it was just FREEZING when I got to their [awesomely renovated] home on Saturday.  We shot inside, natural light [great windows] and I dragged them outside a bit too.  It was worth it, because despite the shivering, the light was really really nice!  All three kids were, of course, gorgeous.  I was thrilled when I got home and saw what candid moments I captured!

So big blog share since Nicole will also get their slideshow tonight!
