That said, Corey and Jim were so excited to welcome their little baby girl. And they are both adjusting to parenting, and their new roles, and are so cute, and loving and happy. Corey looks amazing, but we knew she would after we saw how insane she looked during her pregnancy. Baby Nicoletta is so sweet.  Her skin is perfect (even her peely feet, which might be my FAV thing about little babies!).  She is sweet and wide-eyed, and never once fussed (except when she was hungry, and c’mon, I know I still fuss when I am hungry!).  I loved having them at my studio.  And I am so excited for a lifetime of blond hair in my future, and photographs in theirs!

So these guys did not disappoint.  Everyone who has peaked over my shoulder has agreed… they are a gorgeous family.  Thank you so much… I am so truly grateful that you are my clients…and now friends.

All this nostalgia might be surfaced because I am shooting so many high school senior sessions, and watching these kids with their parents, grown, getting ready to leave the house for college, driving, making decisions, and just be ready for the world.  And I think “my babies are still babies, 3 & 5 are still really just babies.”

But back to the topic, the little things.  I loved more than anything documenting Madison’s little things… and her bonds with her mom and dad (and grandmother)… and DOG!  And I loved looking at her little folds, and her little peach fuzz, and her perfect eyes, and her teeny toes.  And I loved how her parents cared for her, and made note, and worked together to figure it all out.  It made me just want to hit pause and tell them to love these days, and these moments, because when it goes, it goes, and you are on to the next thing before you even realize it’s gone.

So Amanda and Doug, thank you so much for allowing me into your life, and selecting me to capture these little things.  I am eternally grateful as it brings back those moments for me that are now so distant… and I can live vicariously just a bit… and you help me remember my own.

On top of that, big brother and big sister are scrumptious, Mom is a hottie and dad likes to cook the way Owen does — on the smoker!

I also have to give props to Trisha’s website because I sort of got sucked into it and it gave me a lot of really great ideas for summer eating, buying organic, and I loved the weekly menus!  So head on over and check it out!

To anyone other than a Greek, that would be such an odd statement to include in an introduction, but our people know that this instantly forms a bond and a long conversation of churches, Greek School, Aunts/Uncles and visits to the Mother Country.  This time was no exception as I shot the session… and since this family was also a referral from another (non-Greek) friend, we had many other connections a degrees of separation to discuss.  When this happens, the session flies.  I am always surprised to check my watch as I wrap up and realize that the time flew, and it was fun, and we captured great images to boot.

This little doll was wonderful, she seriously zonked out for a good part of our time and I was able to capture some beautiful images of her as a newborn!  Hopefully we can connect again and I can document her as she grows!

Being in the city. Seven month old babies with perfect posture. Big blue eyes. Sunny days. Brownstones and bricks with glorious shade light. Big beds next to big windows. Clients that become my friends. Morning breaks from my children. Sipping hot fresh coffee while walking down a city street. Window shopping. My old neighborhood. Six degrees of Kristina. Gear that works properly. Husbands and wives that are in love. Parents loving their babies.

So pretty much every single thing about this session. I have to admit, I am actually obsessed with it a little bit.

What a glorious morning for me, and I also hope for Ethan and his parents. I truly enjoyed my time spent with new old friends.

So a lovely, gray rainy day… my favorite kind of day… and a wonderful eight days new.

It means that this year I am going to focus on helping you display your images in ways that make sense to you and will provide you with an amazing return on your investment. Fine Art Gallery Wrapped Canvases are a wonderful way to elegantly display your images without needing to worry about framing or matting your images. Each image is carefully inspected and edited prior to printing and all images include appropriate re-sizing and or editing to ensure that the image wraps correctly (i.e. critical elements of your images will not be left out due to size/edge constraints and color borders will not be substituted in place of your image). Our canvases are printed on state-of-the-art canvas printers with non-fade, non-toxic inks that are guaranteed not to fade or warp for 120 years (provided they are hung in a moisture free environment out of direct sunlight). They are backed with clean white paper with a variety of hanging hardware and rubber backers to prevent slipping. There are a lot of inexpensive options for canvases these days. Trust me when I say I can spot them from across the room. If you would like to preserve your images as art within your home, it’s worth it have them professionally sized and printed.

Gallery Mounts are also a wonderful “ready to hang” solution for more casual areas as well as high traffic areas such as staircases (they are more flush to the wall and secured with a keyhole screw and thus less likely to be jostled or knocked around). A Gallery Mounted image is one that is printed on professional-grade paper, then heat sealed to a wood substrate product that has beautiful beveled and painted edges (white or black, 3/8″ or 3/4″ inch thickness) and they are finished with a finelinen texture. We can add a digital mat to any image, or we can group multiple images together on one mount for a storyboard effect.

Mini mounts are are the Gallery Mounts cute little sister. They are made for 5X7 prints — they come ready for display with a built in paper easel. They are also lovely when seated on a small plate stand. You can pop them anywhere from a counter top to a bookcase to a mantel. Frames. Kristina Young Photography now carries a full line of frames that range from light, airy, fun and whimsical for you brightest images to classic, traditional and elegant worthy of holding your most beautiful portraits. We even have a simple, black, non-glare glass frame if you just want a simple wall gallery display (with optional mats available). For framing ideas, it is best for us to do an on-site consultation either at your home, or via email with images of your home provided.  [Frames are included in the two week sale if they are purchased with a print, standalone frame purchases are available but not at a sale price.]

I do NOT run sales or discount my products at any other time during the year.  As you know, I am not a low-cost provider photographer nor do I generate business and attract clients because I run specials and promotions.  I do not want anyone feel that they need to wait to book a session until I lower my prices or that if they paid full price, they somehow lost out on a great deal. Additionally, my packages already take some of these discounts into account.  I think it’s important that you understand my philosophy because I constructed my business model to serve my client’s best interests in hopes of building long term relationships and deliver consistent value.

But back to Baby Jamie.  He was just a love.  A good feeding and he sacked right out for his photos.  We tried to mix in a few with Oz, but it’s always a little precarious mixing a dog and a newborn, so we played it safe.

Anyway, I can’t wait to meet up with them again, maybe in the summer, so I can meet Jamie’s dad as well and do a little family session with everyone!  But for now, check out this newborn goodness!

As you all know, my life is endlessly connected (which is why it’s such a good thing I cleaned up my act after college!). And once again, this mom and I were connected. I didn’t blog much about it, but last year I did this super cool project for a phenomenal Day School up here on the North Shore. By far one of the most enjoyable assignments I’ve taken on. I photographed a “Day in the Life” for their website and Viewbook content. So as Mom and I are talking, and she tells me where she teaches, it occurs to me that I have actually photographed her before! And really, she looked as awesome 12 days after having a baby as she did before she was pregnant. Dad was pretty cool too… a surfer, so you know that makes me happy… a really smart surfer, actually! This kid is very lucky having the parents he does.

So once again, a very amazing Monday… doing what I love. Watching families together, watching them love their new baby, and watching their new baby watch them!
