The blog has moved...

You've reached my old blog... In order to simplify my blog, my portfolio and my life, I combined my blog and site into one. Now you can find my "blog" entries on my Recent Work page. You can also view my portfolio, link to slideshows and client information, and locate anything else you might need all in one place.

This blog contains old session blog posts, and my failed 2011 attempt at "One Image a Day" project in which I force myself to shoot something each day, personal or professional, as a challenge to myself. I'd love to hear what you think of the images as they might slightly stray from the norm. We'll see if I can pick it up for 2012!

Still have to blog these images!  Owen has safely boarded a plane home to the monsoon land and I am busy sunning myself and napping, but once I regroup, these images for Taylor Made Sweets will be right back on the radar screen!  They are so fun, can’t wait to post them… can’t wait to print them for the walls!

Now scroll on down past that family image and VOTE for your favorite nursery.  Don’t collect $200, don’t pass go.  Just go VOTE.  Two days left!

Last year, and I really mean last year like December 2008, I stopped into Taylor Made Sweets in Hamilton for some coffee [after shopping at Red Wagon and I am still not OK that this store didn't stay].  I stared and stared at the blank walls and thought, I would love for my work to be on these walls.  Working full time at IBM, two kids under 2.5, and just finishing up my first photographer seasonal rush, I thought I’ll just call the owner and see if we can make it happen.  So I emailed Sheila [because I couldn't find my phone, of course] and was so impressed when we met to talk.  Her background in both teaching and Culinary Arts [in France no less], corporate finance in technology, and now, living her dream with her own Bakery named after her daughter Taylor.  And she was open to displaying my work.

As things happen, things happened.  Time passed.  Dates slipped.  With tail between legs [yes, I just looked over my shoulder to see if there was a tail], I emailed her back in January and said “so, I’ve finally gotten it together… am I too late to get together?”  And happily, I was not.

I did round one of shooting last Tuesday with amazing Taylor and her two supercool friends.  I gotta tell you, I am liking shooting the older girls!  THEY LISTEN TO ME!  And once we started chatting, and they started making Sundaes, things got good!  And none of it would have happened without Rachael making sure everything was sparkling, cookies were ready and organized to a T!

I am heading back this week to tackle and ice cream party with some smaller kiddos.  It should be energizing to say the least and I am so excited!  Stay tuned!
