The blog has moved...

You've reached my old blog... In order to simplify my blog, my portfolio and my life, I combined my blog and site into one. Now you can find my "blog" entries on my Recent Work page. You can also view my portfolio, link to slideshows and client information, and locate anything else you might need all in one place.

This blog contains old session blog posts, and my failed 2011 attempt at "One Image a Day" project in which I force myself to shoot something each day, personal or professional, as a challenge to myself. I'd love to hear what you think of the images as they might slightly stray from the norm. We'll see if I can pick it up for 2012!

They are walking.  They are more delicious than ever.  I haven’t shared much of them lately because I think holiday images should be kept under wraps.  But since this one is not from the “card” session, I thought it was a perfect one to share. [Do you like how I talk about them with no introduction?  Almost like they re mine?  It turns out that just about every blog reader I have already knows who these babes are!!!  So no introduction needed!].

Will be back later on with at least 3 more sessions to blog… maybe 8.  Depends on how the night goes!

We stealthy borrowed Christofer’s rig for this one.  He didn’t know, he wouldn’t have minded.  Couldn’t love the tractor shots any more than I do… bummer we are a missing a pedal, but I don’t think anyone notices!!

That specifically refers to one of my lenses.  If you know me, current or past client, you know that occasionally my lenses act up.  Or maybe it’s my camera.  It’s happened a lot this year, and though it’s frustrating, I’ve learned to shoot around it for the most part… and Canon promises me they will help me, and that’s all I can ask for.  my 85 1.2L is my very favorite lens. And when this lens is good, it’s very, very good.  It creates the most amazing “bokeh” (the blurry background) and it facilitates the creamiest of skin tones.  It’s all around lovely.  If it’s cured of it’s ailments this week at Canon, it will resume it’s place next to me in bed {in between Owen, right next to Janey}.

Same about being very, very good can apply to River Road.  Sometimes I shoot there and the light is so crazy bright and I am just perplexed about how wrangle everyone somewhere softer.  Usually it works out just fine.  But sometimes I show up there and the street is my oyster and every single spot I stop in is just lovely, yummy, surreal with light.

So meeting up with Brooke and her family was one of those nights, it was all good, so it was all very, very good.  What an awesomely beautiful family.  And nice.  Because once again, I fell just a little bit in love with my clients.  So here are just a few as I catch up on editing, orders and blog posts.

So I am a tiny bit backed up on blogging.  I am sure you have figured that out.  I am also a tiny bit backed up on editing, that’s sort of obvious too.  I know I keep repeating it, but someday it will be true.  I do believe tomorrow is the day I will be caught up!  And tomorrow I will be sending out Lisa’s slideshow and gallery.  Because it’s all edited and I’ve been a bad blogger, I figured I’d share more images in addition to what I already posted on Facebook.  So you know, sometimes at this time of year, there is no rhyme or reason to my blogging.  Sometimes I blog immediately.  Sometimes I post to Facebook.  Sometimes I email a few favorites and they never make it to anywhere else.  And sometimes I just send out the gallery.  Unless you ask me not to post anywhere, how things show up is just sort of random and no indication of how I felt about the session or what your images look like.  Sometimes it’s just hard to get it all organized consistently!

Anyway, I suggested the back of River Road to Lisa, and then she emailed me her wardrobe selection, and I have to tell you, I was THRILLED.  It really felt like something out of a J. Crew catalog.  I simply love the style, and I think it was an amazing blend of classic mixed with whimsical.  I believe it was perfect.  I loved this session so much.

I really love this family of hers.  When I first brought Christofer to Joyful Noises, even before Rainor joined the Toddler One class, Will used to lean out the door of Preschool and say “Hey Christofer, hey buddy, come here and give me five.”  And I’d think “Wow, my son has older friends!  How cool.”  Then I met Rainor and Lisa and I immediately liked Lisa as there is a bond with any mom that is juggling her work and her kids and somehow pulling it all together.  And what I first remember loving about Lisa was that she used to put cute little notes on Rainor’s lunch.  And that’s the sort of thing that a hormonal pregnant woman would start crying over [NO.  I am not pregnant.  I WAS pregnant at the time.].  Christofer and Rainor became fast friends and still are.  They are getting ready to be the big guns in Preschool and I am so thrilled they have two more years in class together.  I can only imagine and hope that Rainor’s sweet demeanor might possibly rub off on my boy and bring him down from a 10 to a 4 in energy (OK, I think we’d all be happy with a 6 or 7).

Here are a few more of my favs from the night!  I am so excited to send out this slideshow in the morning!

To say I was excited to look through these images is an understatement. I had them uploading before I even let Owen know I was home. I enthusiastically encouraged him to go to Home Depot while Janey napped so I could publish this sneak peak. And I uploaded them to the blog so that I could sneak looks at them in the kitchen and write this post while pretending to make lunch for the kids.

I was really excited to include the entire family in this month’s session. I think it just adds just and awesome dimension… and let’s be honest, you all wanted to see their beautiful parents too, didn’t you? I love that these little guys have a blog following of all their own! I think it’s awesome that I show up to sessions and clients will say “so tell me more about Jack & Will… how are they doing?” Anyway, I just love the captures of the boys and their mom. She is not only beautiful, but really lovely. And I could not have been more excited about her dress. How excellent is it? Love.

I think I have mentioned that Jack & Will live on a gorgeous farm. As they get older and we explore more, you will no doubt see more and more of it. I have figured out something fabulous or our July session… and also for our November/One Year session… just need to get the wheels turning and put it in motion!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Father’s Days. Owen has done enough yard work and pool cleaning to deserve a little cocktail, and I might just have to join him (especially since I just drove by a van that had “it’s 5:00 somewhere” written on the back windshield). My kind of peeps.
