The blog has moved...

You've reached my old blog... In order to simplify my blog, my portfolio and my life, I combined my blog and site into one. Now you can find my "blog" entries on my Recent Work page. You can also view my portfolio, link to slideshows and client information, and locate anything else you might need all in one place.

This blog contains old session blog posts, and my failed 2011 attempt at "One Image a Day" project in which I force myself to shoot something each day, personal or professional, as a challenge to myself. I'd love to hear what you think of the images as they might slightly stray from the norm. We'll see if I can pick it up for 2012!

It’s a small world after all, it’s a small, small, world! Now that I’ve stuck that in your head, my job is done. You are welcome!

Alexis and I probably met when she was somewhere around one and I was somewhere around 5. We spent summers splashing around on Swim Team, batting around tennis balls, and I think she became like this awesome golf superstar. At some point in there, I think it was established that maybe we were somehow Greek relatives in that way that you are with someone 5X removed (waiting on a call back from Yai-ya). So we also lived in the same town. And we also went to the same high school. And now our mothers live about 4 houses apart from each other. We go to the same pedi office. And her daughter is friends with my niece Alden.

So that’s how I know Alexis.

We had a great session at her beautiful home downtown, with her wonderful husband and adorable kids. We did everything I like to do in a session, sit nicely for a portrait, jump on the bed, each chocolate and run outside. That makes me happy! Anyway, I flew to Belmont, grabbed the kids and then promptly napped them just so I could get up this sneak peak! Yay!

This is the second installment of the Jack & Will Show, celebrating 2.5 months of their reign over the farm. I am so incredibly excited because I am going to photograph these guys every month this year! Usually this age is a tough age to photograph, because babies just don’t “do” much… but these guys were rock stars. They did their best at just being really cute and so it made my job super easy! Their mom has impeccable taste and their house is divine, and so I already have a million ideas for what we’ll do next month, when they can push up a little bit… and you just wait to see what I have planned when they can sit!

I can’t believe I forgot to blog this.  Well, I sort of can, because I have about 6 sessions from the fall that I never blogged… but I actually had this one ready to go about 30 minutes after I shot it.  And then I forgot to blog it.  Back on track… these little boys were the sweetest little twin babes you could imagine… I think maybe 12 days old?  But still oh-so-sleepy and oh-so-good.   This session was really fun for a few reasons (1) I spent a lot of time drooling over the most fabulous farmhouse these two boys will cause trouble in, (2) I like their mom, (3) it took me less than 2 minutes to drive there, and (4) Terri Lee helped me the entire session!  It was so fun having her with me and as much as you might think she and I would get sidetracked talking and what-not, we actually worked really well together and she helped me figure out a bunch of shots!  She’s welcome any time.

Back to the boys, I don’t care if I have to beg, plead, kick and scream… I am coming back to photograph these boys for life.  I already have so many ideas for when they can sit, crawl, run, chase each other, and… RIDE!  Carolyn, thank you for having me over!  I am so sorry I forgot to blog these!

If you can hit it off with someone before you actually meet them, then this is what happened with Mia and I. When she said her family would be in Rockport for a vacation, I was super excited, obviously knowing the town very well. Mia found me on Gardenmoms which is not only a great resource for Boston Moms, but also an excellent source of beautiful clients for me (you can check out other GM sessions by clicking on the category link above and choosing “gardenmoms”). I chuckled a bit when I got Mia’s check because she lives on a street that I know well in Newton as a friend grew up there. Prior to the session, we chatted about what time and good light and I told here to look here to see what the light in Rockport looks like at 6PM.

Imagine my surprise, rather, insane spastic delight… the house they rented was ON THE SAME STREET as the cottage where I took the above mentioned image two weeks ago (and I grew up spending every summer running down that same street!). And what are the chances that I show up and Mia’s mom is a YIA YA? You know me, lovin’ the Greek connection! And just to make sure that everyone is nicely connected and tied up with a bow… Nicole & Matt (Mia’s brother) live across the street from these guys.

So all in all, in addition to the most fabulous light, amazing weather, and my favorite location… it was a lovefest.

I hope the entire family has an amazing vacation. Thank you so much for having me visit so I could capture a slice of it! Have a wonderful time and Yiaya, Pous and Pam, have a safe trip home! I have so many images it was difficult for me to choose which to blog, so I just grabbed a handful {although I am already thinking there are about 10 others I want to post}, I hope you enjoy!

Simply because I can’t find one word to sum up this family. Lovely? Stunning? Timeless? Fabulous?

I am so happy that we were able to connect before they move to San Francisco. Time was short, I managed to not sleep through my alarm, the weather cooperated, and everything worked as planned. It was an absolute treat to shoot a lifestyle session with a family as relaxed as this, with the most exquisite natural light you could ever hope to find, indoors and out. I am so excited to proof this session because collectively, the images tell a great story of two parents that not only really love each other, but clearly have their little boy as the center of their universe. And on that note, they should, because he is AWESOME. He not only held it together the entire hour or so I was there, but he sat still (and ran) and smiled and laughed and clearly had a ball with his parents.

Thank you so much for a wonderful morning. I wish you the best in the upcoming weeks as you manage your transition and settle in to your new home!
