“Let your soul shine,
It’s better than sunshine,
It’s better than moonshine,
Damn sure better than rain.”
I am so happy for our friend Kim. I say “our” because she’s my friend, but she’s also a lot of people’s friend and I know that everyone misses her here in Topsfield, but I know that we are all happy that she has landed comfortably in her new home.
Today, after about two reschedules, we were able to meet up. I dragged my kiddos along, which if you know me, is a cardinal sin in my world. My children + me working = never good and NOT what my clients are paying for. But the kids and I talked AT LENGTH for 24 hours about how special it would be to see Nina and Leo in the city, and we discussed how they would be confined to a double stroller, and how it would be best for them not to try to get out, and if they could manage to do that, there might be a treat involved and if that all worked out, we’d have a pizza play date in the city. Shockingly, minus a few screeches and fights over cheese puffs, they were great.
Almost as great as Nina and Leo. Actually, no where near as great. Nina and Leo came with their A-game. 3:15PM, after a day of school for both, on a kind of cold day… They were supah-model awesome. So in about 30 minutes, we circled the park and banged out a most fabulous session. It was seriously like a 89% keeper rate. Everything, including the sunshine, was perfect. Here’s how you can tell it was a great session: none of the images posted below are “the” shot for the holiday card.
So back to it being better than sunshine… I am happy for Kim. She is living in a beautiful home in a great location, her kids are in an amazing city routine and have just really blossomed, and everyone seems to just be happy and settled. Out of nowhere, when I got in the car, I happened to have on a random oldies station (yes, 1994 is old, and yes, I have the music taste of a disgruntled 16 year old)… and this song came on, and it made me really happy because I know that she is finding her soul shine now in her own beautiful life!

This image here should give you some indication of not only how sloppy I dress my children, but also how incredibly happy my son was to see his friend.

Ok now I’m in tears not just over these amazing, breathtaking shots but also over your touching words. You truly have a gift not just for photography but for your perfectly written sentiments! I love that we are friends! Thankyou!!!!
