The blog has moved...

You've reached my old blog... In order to simplify my blog, my portfolio and my life, I combined my blog and site into one. Now you can find my "blog" entries on my Recent Work page. You can also view my portfolio, link to slideshows and client information, and locate anything else you might need all in one place.

This blog contains old session blog posts, and my failed 2011 attempt at "One Image a Day" project in which I force myself to shoot something each day, personal or professional, as a challenge to myself. I'd love to hear what you think of the images as they might slightly stray from the norm. We'll see if I can pick it up for 2012!

December 24, 2009

I finally have a minute to relax.  The house is quiet (Janey sleeping, the boys at the gym and getting haircuts).  Still have some things to do (Farmer Browns, gift horse, a drink at the Fellows), but taking a moment to think about how crazy this month has been.  For the first time in many, many weeks I have slept 8 hours in a row, for 2 nights in a row (this doesn’t count that I’ve gotten up with Janey and slept in her bedroom, it just means I wasn’t working at 3AM).  I am so ready for Christmas.  I am so ready to hang out with my family and not be panicked that someone’s card order is coming in late, or that I owe people things… and I know I still do, but I am really excited to have a reprieve from it all for a few days.  I am so excited to see Christofer on Christmas morning.  It’s been so much fun getting him all fired up for Santa… and it will be sad to longer dangle that over his head. But all in all, he’s been really awesome and is so deserving of the treats that will be in his stocking.  Janey will have fun too, she just loves being a part of it.  I picked out a nice retro toy for her that I think she is going to love! We’ll miss Alex and the boys, the Youngs, the Petersens and the Pages, but being in Belmont tomorrow with everyone else will be so nice.  Can’t believe I am finally going to get to meet baby Will!  So for kiddos, it will be Maisie (almost 7), Fredi (6), McKay (4), Roman (4), Christofer (3.5), Emerson  (2.5),   Alden (2.5), Janey (1.5), Wesley (1.5), Lauchlan (1), and Wilson (1 month!).  If we added in the Sesler boys it would be pure chaos!

I have so much to blog, I am so looking forward to the next week, catching up, getting ready for next year, cleaning out my office (the petrie dish as Owen calls it).  I thought I’d leave you with one of my favorite images from the fall that I never blogged… beautiful Erica and her gorgeous little baby boy Jason.

Merry Christmas.

[and now that is stuck in my head.  and if you don't know what I am singing, you are too young to be reading my blog].

But I am just way in the weeds, really trying to catch up and get everyone everything they need before the holiday.  It might come down to the wire, but I’ll do my best to make sure it happens!  I’d love to say next year I’ll stick to my rule “no sessions after Thanksgiving,” but I really liked the people I met and so this year I am happy I squeezed a few more in!  I’ll blog here and there as I catch up and hopefully show some new images that have been just been napping on my harddrive.

So I was super excited to meet Nicole because really, any friend of my cousin Laurie’s is a friend of mine.  I just always like the people she sends my way!  Anyway, it was just FREEZING when I got to their [awesomely renovated] home on Saturday.  We shot inside, natural light [great windows] and I dragged them outside a bit too.  It was worth it, because despite the shivering, the light was really really nice!  All three kids were, of course, gorgeous.  I was thrilled when I got home and saw what candid moments I captured!

So big blog share since Nicole will also get their slideshow tonight!

Melissa is 100% A-OK with no write up.  She knows what kind of week I am having and said “just post the pictures, don’t write a word!”  So here they are!

Enough about me.  Remember when I said my clients are uncommonly beautiful?  This is pretty much exactly what I was talking about.  This is gorgeous Lacey and her beautiful family.  I was thrilled we were able to pull off this session before they pack up and head back to Atlanta.  They were so awesome, and so easy to work with, I might have to invite myself down and photograph them again once they are settled (kidding… well…. no I am not… sort of… I am not a stalker…just thinking I could shack up at Carrie’s… ok… whatever, now this sounds wierd).

I was  also super excited to be shooting in the city.  I just love it.  Heading into Boston is like heading home for me.  I know where to park, I know the short cuts, I know the cobblestones.  It just makes me infinitely happy.

Lacey, sorry the sneak peak took so long… the upside is that your gallery is finished and so you have a super big sneak peak! Best wishes to your family as you transition home!
