The blog has moved...

You've reached my old blog... In order to simplify my blog, my portfolio and my life, I combined my blog and site into one. Now you can find my "blog" entries on my Recent Work page. You can also view my portfolio, link to slideshows and client information, and locate anything else you might need all in one place.

This blog contains old session blog posts, and my failed 2011 attempt at "One Image a Day" project in which I force myself to shoot something each day, personal or professional, as a challenge to myself. I'd love to hear what you think of the images as they might slightly stray from the norm. We'll see if I can pick it up for 2012!

Loved meeting this little boy, because I love his mama and he has three totally fabulous sisters, known as… well… Sisters. Up until now, Sisters (who I will blog later) have been sort of a match to Brothers (my nephews, who I will also blog later)… and then along came Baby Cameron. Baby Cameron who is incredibly delish, with the perfect skin, perfect amount of hair, perfect ears, perfect little size, perfect fingers and perfect toes. So Sisters are now Plus One, but I think they’ll be OK!

I shot these in my sister’s bedroom. For one of these I used FLASH ::::gasp::::. I know, I know, it’s a horrific slander to my all natural light philosophy. The net of it is that we live in the Northeast, and even on sunny winter days, sometimes available light is just not that available. So I am trying to be better at busting out my Speedlite and creating a natural look because in the end, it’s all about making beautiful images and being able to work in any condition greatly enhances my ability to do that. So there.

One of my favorite houses in our town, owned by one of my favorite families. Year three of photographing these kiddos and I am thrilled that this year the parents jumped in. It makes me so happy to see their entire family, grandparents included, in on the session. I love love love photographing families.

It makes me so happy that I can shoot these sessions for Terri Lee. She met me morning one of our new life here in town, in total disarray, picked up Christofer and my gallon of milk and walked me to my car. Ever since, she’s been a really awesome, very real, honest and funny touchstone for me. I am so happy to have her family in our life.

was a big topic of Facebook a few nights ago. Who could believe I had a friend that took care of my kids, fed them, gave me wine, a warm kitchen to hang out in, and had a husband that entertained mine… certainly a modern day American version of the legend herself. Mrs. Fellows is just that. In fact, she is watching my children as I speak. No, it’s better, SHE WALKED DOWN HERE AND GOT THEM FROM ME WHILE I FINISHED UP A CONFERENCE CALL. No joke. Seriously, she is real. I’ll prove it to you by pinching her when I see her. Which I am late to do, so I am keeping this short. This is the Poppins family at their finest! Love them!

Because they are super patient with me when it comes to blogging their sessions! Poor Jen is still waiting, but since she was a full 45 minutes later than Kim, she must come second. Kim & Jen swapped caring for the kiddos so I could do their shoots. Their kids are awesome playdates for my kids, and they are awesome playdates for me! I am really super lucky that I live where I live and can have such awesome homegirls so close by.

Kim is totally credited with the creative spots to shoot. She started the River Road sessions for me last year, so I was pysched when she thought up Gould Barn for this year. I just love how these turned out!

I was so excited when Laura told me we could shoot at Turner Hill. Not that I don’t LOVE River Road and all that it holds, but I was craving somewhere new and Turner Hill is so rich with color, texture and style. I was equally excited to meet Laura’s family as she bid on me at the TESTPO auction last year and I love being able to donate to a good cause. Laura’s girls are wonderful. They are so totally unique from each other, but each have their own beauty and style. And Laura is head-to-toe grace and elegance, yet still incredibly real and a lovely and fun mom. It was great that Dad could pop in at the end for a family photograph… fresh off a VERY windy round of golf!

I am so excited to go through this entire gallery because there were just some really nice locations, but here are the first few that popped out at me!
