The blog has moved...

You've reached my old blog... In order to simplify my blog, my portfolio and my life, I combined my blog and site into one. Now you can find my "blog" entries on my Recent Work page. You can also view my portfolio, link to slideshows and client information, and locate anything else you might need all in one place.

This blog contains old session blog posts, and my failed 2011 attempt at "One Image a Day" project in which I force myself to shoot something each day, personal or professional, as a challenge to myself. I'd love to hear what you think of the images as they might slightly stray from the norm. We'll see if I can pick it up for 2012!

I had a really awesome Saturday.  Owen was a rock star and handled the kiddos all day while I shot three sessions.  Usually I am totally overwhelmed shooting three sessions and I am pretty blurry eyed by the end of the day, but for some reason, it was easy!  Must be because I was looking at such beautiful people all day long.  Yes, not to disappoint, I seemed to have stumbled upon yet another crop of beauties, pretty people, scrumptious children, what-to-wear examples… you know the drill.

I met up with Deb first.  I am so glad we were able to work it out with our schedules, considering the disaster that my schedule is.   Deb is new to town and I was really excited to shoot these for her.  I know it can be so hard being far away from your homegirls, especially around the holidays.  You meet people, but it’s not like you know them well enough that you can just stop by their house, dump your kids, open their fridge and pour yourself some wine… (except that I think I did that the first day I even went to Stephanie’s house, but that’s another story).   And even though I know Deb has met a ton of girls, it’s still not quite home for her yet.  So I am hoping that by showing her these images, she’ll be a little more excited about her transition up here and will feel just a little bit more like it’s home when she sees them on her walls.

Sophie and Mia are so pretty, and they had on the cutest outfits, and they were really well behaved.  What is it with everyone’s kids being so well behaved and mine just seem to get better and better at throwing tantrums?   We ventured a little further back than I normally go and I absolutely LOVE the images of the girls in their dress up clothes in front of the country estate… it just seemed to work so well!

Enjoy!

My plea paid off and  I was able to get better (turns out it was just a nasty sore throat brought on by too little sleep), I caught up on a bunch of galleries (but I still owe slideshows and more galleries) and now just have a backlog of cards to design!  I am getting there, I promise.

I was able to catch up with Michelle who runs the fabulous stationary store (The Write Expression) in town… I purchased Betsy’s shower invites there and they were ADORABLE!  Anyway, for those of you local, look for some cool things happen with us in the winter and spring (think cute Valentines Day photographs on their awesome cards!).

Here are two from the afternoon… shooting in the most perfect late day light (Corin, you were right, it was perfect!)

This is my reminder that I love love love black and white sibling shots.

As many of you maybe know, after 13 years, I am wrapping up my career at IBM and as of December 4th, I will be a full time photographer.  This, in itself, is extremely time consuming as it means packing up my office, wrapping up with colleagues and sorting out some HR things.  That said, I am also sick.  I am not saying it’s a “S@%^&  F*&”, because I don’t think it’s actually flu like, but I’ve been fading a little more each day and today I am getting back into bed for a few hours.  Finally, I am in the thick of my busy season.  Oh, and my proofing cart/slideshow system was down all weekend (it’s back up now!).

So… I am very late on many, many things to a lot of people.  I have many sessions to proof, many orders to ship, and overall I am a little overwhelmed.  I know I owe you all something, I have an incredibly long to-do list.  I am going to ask, beg, plea for your patience during this time as I get through this transition.  Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.

I received in some new sample items and thought I’d feature them here in case folks are looking for ideas for quick and easy holiday gifts.  I know some of you are probably grumbling that you haven’t seen your galleries, yet, but they are all coming, I promise. Also coming soon: mini mounts!
