The blog has moved...

You've reached my old blog... In order to simplify my blog, my portfolio and my life, I combined my blog and site into one. Now you can find my "blog" entries on my Recent Work page. You can also view my portfolio, link to slideshows and client information, and locate anything else you might need all in one place.

This blog contains old session blog posts, and my failed 2011 attempt at "One Image a Day" project in which I force myself to shoot something each day, personal or professional, as a challenge to myself. I'd love to hear what you think of the images as they might slightly stray from the norm. We'll see if I can pick it up for 2012!

I was so excited to meet these little twins… Missy and I head down to visit Stacey, Joe and their beautiful new babies and I had baby fever all over again :::earmuffs Owen, earmuffs::: I can’t even describe how wonderful their home is, and how chill they were about having me invade it with all my gear. The babies were pretty fabulous too. I can’t wait to see them grow (I’ve actually already put in a request to Missy to shoot them at 6-7 months when they can sit because man-oh-man I have a ton of ideas of where I can stick them… you know, “hey, it’s OK, your baby is just fine sitting on that ledge” type of shots).

I love these of Joe… especially where he’s saying “hands of my little girl…”

Usually by this age, it’s all about the baby and somehow mom’s get lost in the sea of “but where did I go? and when am I coming back?” So just in case Stacey forgot how gorgeous she is… this is a reminder.

My thoughts when driving to meet gorgeous Heather and her beautiful family. Turns out they live on the street I walked down while trying to put myself into labor over the 4th of July! I figured if the walk didn’t do it, the fireworks would. It sort of worked. Either way, they live in one of my favorite neighborhoods in a great house and are just a really neat little family! It was a fun morning and I am excited to see what I captured!

This little girlie just LOVES her dad (I think he was worried he was going to be in every picture… no worries, not all of them!)

I love this first one so much because she just looks like she’s giving herself such a big hug!

Love her face even more… total trooper, still giving smiles to the very end!

Thanks for a fun morning!

It was just awesome seeing Wendy, Wes and Katherine yesterday. I think we all needed a little gossip time, and Wes & Janey were able to reconnect in person (they spend so much time on gmail, facebook and talking on their iPhones, they needed to just be together and hold hands).

We can’t wait until the littlest Morris joins us… Katherine looks awesome, even if she doesn’t feel it. I so wanted to lie to her and tell her that the 3rd trimester is just the best and she’ll probably never feel better in her life… but I couldn’t. So I told her the truth. I didn’t sleep after 32 weeks and by 36 weeks I would have pulled Janey out my eyeball sockets if I could have. But that’s cooking a baby for you.

A few things to point out in the shots below… aside from what a beautiful Mama Wendy is… Janey is wearing a fabulous smock from Auntie Robin (Bu and the Duck…) and yes, that is a barrette holding back all 13 strands of hair.

{hey Bill, sorry about ‘Nova… but I know I have a few fans yelling Go TARHEELS!}

Oh how I love them. Are we really done at two? Is this going to happen to me EVERY TIME I photograph a newborn? Or just when the newborn is as lovely as this?

I was in my bliss this morning photographing Nola. I think I took the place a bit by storm, lugging in all my gear, and you know how I never stop talking… but it was wonderful to meet Dana, and her mom, and to get my hands on this absolute beauty. You’ll be seeing her face in a lot of places {she’s accepted the position of my newborn spokesmodel}.

So just one for now. I have a baby that is way too old to be swaddled, angry and swaddled in her crib… plus a toddler who is way to old to be in diapers, dirty and diapered on my bed. Yes, I contemplated Benedryl & Hylands just so I could proof this session… but alas, I did not and so they call.

I lied. Here’s another. It turns out said angry baby and smelly toddler really like to amuse each other!

as to what to title this post. “Stunning?” “The easiest mini-session I’ve edited. Ever?” “Wow! Those Eyes?” “I have the most beautiful clients in the world?” Yeah, all of those things.

Tara came over today so I could shoot a bit of Renata for a display I am working on. Oh. My. Goodness.

Janey, I am so sorry that I had eyes for someone other than you today. {I am doubly sorry you are crying in your crib as I type this… it’s like you know…}

Needless to say, I have some keepers for the display.
