The blog has moved...

You've reached my old blog... In order to simplify my blog, my portfolio and my life, I combined my blog and site into one. Now you can find my "blog" entries on my Recent Work page. You can also view my portfolio, link to slideshows and client information, and locate anything else you might need all in one place.

This blog contains old session blog posts, and my failed 2011 attempt at "One Image a Day" project in which I force myself to shoot something each day, personal or professional, as a challenge to myself. I'd love to hear what you think of the images as they might slightly stray from the norm. We'll see if I can pick it up for 2012!

ADORABLE. YUMMY. BLESSED. AND A GIFT.

This is Violet. I have the very special privilege of knowing her since the day she was born as I photographed her birth at home. I didn’t blog her birth for a few reasons… it’s very intimate and I am not sure how much to share, I was in the middle of holiday craziness and well, I still haven’t finished proofing it!

I visited with this amazing family over the weekend and had a chance to photograph Violet at three months. And her brothers as well (though I haven’t proofed their shots yet!). Here are a few I started on, and hopefully someday I’ll be able to finish this session AND the birth. Dare to dream!

And this is what I imagine is going on here… a conversation like this:  “so man, you snuck in at midnight… do you think she heard you?” “I dunno.”  “I am sure if she did we’d know… that bat is crazy mad when she’s woken up and disoriented.”  “I dunno.”  “So didja have fun?”

I had a wonderful Friday. After wrapping up a few work things I was able to head out to visit some friends from the fall. “E” is getting braces this month and so her mom wanted to capture her beautiful smile just as it is today.

I love this family, I really do. J is such a great mix of old-fashioned kindness and warmth mixed with got-it-going-on hip. She loves photographs as much as I do and it is pure joy to walk around her beautiful home and absorb the lifetime of memories displayed in beautiful frames. Tomorrow I’ll blog what I really loved the most… I’ll keep you guessing.

Little Miss E was a fabulous model. Not only was she simply breath taking in some of these shots… but she was a total trooper as she’d just had her tonsils out and was feeling under the weather (and it was freezing out!). But I bet you can’t tell because at age eight, that girl already has a game face!

I truly enjoyed my morning and I can’t wait until I can meet up with them again this fall!

Does anyone else feel like they are stepping into a Victorian novel in this one?

I love these last two not only because they are gorgeous girls, but also because it is so awesome to see a mother and daughter with such an amazing bond. So much about today made me so glad that I have a daughter who will always be my best friend.
